Preventive Measures to Avoid Elbow Tendonitis Symptoms

Elbow tendonitis is a common problem found by rheumatologists. The problem starts with the forearm muscles. These muscles are mainly involved in squeezing, lifting and gripping. When muscles attached to the elbow and wrist are overstressed or overloaded, they may tear partially from both ends. This is the main reason of severe pain which is the most familiar of all elbow tendonitis symptoms.

It is very crucial to recognize these symptoms at an early stage. Generally, if the problem is diagnosed and cured at an early stage, it may heal completely without any consultation from the doctor. Therefore, you must stay alert to notice any of these quickly.

The foremost thing is the pain that you may feel when you extend your arm during or after any activity or exercise. The pain is usually felt on the backside of your elbow where the elbow joint and tendon meets. This is an indication of the development of elbow tendonitis.

There may also be inflammation in the elbow area. A hot or burning sensation may be felt around the elbow also. Again this is usually noticed after exercise or activity. The pain may also be felt both at night and when you wake up in morning. There may also be stiffness in your elbow when you try to bend it against resistance. In a few severe cases, this stiffness may persist all the time.

Usually, there are two types of elbow tendonitis - tennis elbow and golfer's elbow. The symptoms of tennis elbow are the pain and swelling surrounding the elbow's outer edge during the elbow movement. On the other hand, the symptoms in this condition remain the same as that of tennis elbow. The only difference in this case is that pain and swelling is felt in the inner side of the elbow.

In order to avoid the development of the symptoms of elbow tendonitis, it is advisable to do a little stretching and warm up before you indulge in any activity or exercise of this nature. Also, it would help to take small breaks in between, especially when your job requires a lot of physical activity. The same stretching and cooling down should be done when activity is completed.

You must not try to exceed the capability of your body when it comes to physical activity if you really want to avoid any such symptoms. You should try to achieve a higher level of physical activity gradually and not all at once.

So, as prevention is always better than cure. It is better to practice these preventive measures than bear the discomfort caused by elbow tendonitis symptoms. Once you are through with your preventive measures, you need not worry about elbow tendonitis anymore!
